THE
BURNING PROBLEM OF MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN AND ADULTS - Mental
Retardation is a permanent handicap and the victims never return to normalcy.
- The
happiness and tuning of the family having a Mentally Retarded child is totally
shattered.
- Mentally
Retarded child/persons need permanent assistance and help as long he or she is
alive.
- Parents
having Menatlly Retarded child not able to devote their full attention and time
towards their occupation. This means a loss of National productivity. If in this
period, MENTALLY RETARDED child is kept in an Institution, this will lead to increase
in National Productivity.
It
is tragic that even in the old age, Parents can neither take nor leave behind
their MENTALLY RETARDED dependent while proceeding on Pilgrimage or vacation.
The
family members are worried about the future of Mentally Retarded member after
their deaths.
There
are number of schools for MENTALLY RETARDED's but they are hardly for 4 to 6 hours
during day time and for 180 or 200 days in a year. It is tortures to reach the
MENTALLY RETARDED to school and take him back home every day. It amounts to nothing
else but only a Physical, Financial and Mental taxation for the parents and other
family members.
All
other handicapped persons are having Government facilities like Training Centres,
Schools for Blind, Dumb and Deaf or Spastics, because all these persons possess
brain and normal thinking power. As against this, MENTALLY RETARDED child does
not learn any thing even if he learns something, he can't remember, owing to damage
in neurological systems
